Session Tips
Cool... if you’re here we have your attention and you want to know more… or better yet you’ve booked your session and you’re psyched to make this happen!
SO please read on!!! It will make your session the best possible.
To start, remember this is about having fun. Bring stuff with you that lights you up, that cracks you up, that you’re into, or that tells people about you. Bring a buddy, your dog, your Iguana, a pink flamingo from your yard, your Mom’s medieval weapons, your Dad’s taxidermy armadillo etc. etc.. As creative as you want to be we’re gonna back you up.
Then the CLOTHES - Bring Variety - At least 3 changes of clothes. In fact bring lots of clothes; it will give us so many more possibilities to work with. When you arrive we’ll decide together what will photograph well and make you look great!
Solids or subtle prints and patterns work the best. Big stripes, shiny materials, really bold patterns, clothes that take up all the attention are not what you want to bring. Whites can take a lot of attention too. “Who was that in the white shirt?” people might say – so if you like white, bring some other colors as well. Dressy clothes, funky clothes, suit & tie, and prom dresses are all great.
Girls
Having your hair, makeup, and nails done professionally prior to the shoot always is a plus! Don't cut your hair the day before; cut it a couple weeks before the shoot. Bring lipstick – color! - reds, berries and browns are best, and gloss too.
Use both SPF-free moisturizer and foundation to prevent reflection and to enhance your skin’s natural glow. Use a translucent powder to set. Well groomed eyebrows are a must. Enhance eyelashes with black waterproof mascara. Dark brown eyeliner is an alternative to heavy black eyeliner and compliments all shimmery eye shadows. Don’t be afraid to have a little color on the apples of the cheekbones (petal pink). It will really brighten up your face.
Don't forget to accessorize! Bring bold accessories such as shoes, boots, heels, jewelry, sunglasses, hats, scarves etc…
Check this out…Just for fun and to get even more out of your session, treat this as a model shoot and practice some facial expressions and poses in a mirror before your session. Get some ideas from fashion magazines or sports magazines. Plan your wardrobe well in advance. Look in a full length mirror and see how it looks.
Guys
Bring a wide variety – more than you think you should. Solid, medium-toned sweaters, t-shirts, long sleeved dark shirts work the best. Jeans, leather or denim jackets, sports coats, sports uniforms and hats are great. Cover all the bases, bring something dressy too. Steer clear of stripes or bold patterns, cream or light pastel sweaters or shirts. Oh, and don't cut your hair the day before; cut it a couple weeks before the shoot.
